Tottenham Hotspur begin life in a new stadium this season and Daniel Levy will also be hoping Mauricio Pochettino can unearth some new youth products in North London.
The Lilywhites have quite possibly the best example of giving youth a chance in recent times, producing the world-class striker Harry Kane.
Argentinian manager Mauricio Pochettino is well known for his giving youth a chance approach to the game. Tottenham are fearless when it comes to blooding youngsters in the first team, and Daniel Levy will be hoping that continues. Harry Kane is not the only Tottenham academy product showing what he can do in the first team. Indeed, Harry Winks showed what an excellent footballer he is in his appearances last season.
It is silverware which eludes the North London outfit, their performances are often scintillating to watch and they can beat the very best, including Champions League winners at Wembley last season. However, getting over the line to win trophies has proved difficult for Spurs. They are getting closer, and they will be hoping this is the season the trophy cabinet at the new look White Hart Lane can see a new entry.
With that in mind, here are two youngsters Mauricio Pochettino should promote to regular starting roles next season…
Kyle Walker-Peters did make some appearances last season, filling the void left by Kyle Walker leaving for Manchester City, but he has still failed to break into the team in the way in which he would like.
Athletic and energetic, Walker-Peters has been a regular feature in England’s successful youth sides.
He will stop progressing if he isn’t given chances in the first team at Tottenham Hotspur, his progress will stall. Pochettino needs to be brave and giver the young Englishman more chances next season. A repeat of last season’s heroics on the opening day away at Newcastle would be very good indeed.
As the video shows, Tashan Oakley-Boothe is a seriously gifted midfield player.
His zippy passing, dribbling and strength is a major asset to Spurs. Still just 18 years old, he already looks ready to play in the Spurs first team. This season could be the important break out season for the midfielder if he is backed by the Argentine manager.
Sitting in behind creative talents like Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli, we might really see the best out of Oakley Boothe, who provided a fantastic link between defence and attack. The composure on the ball the teenager has is a rare thing for a man of his age.
Daniel Levy would certainly be pleased if he had another multi-million-pound talent on his hands.
