Tottenham Hotspur have been rather impressive in the Premier League this season, but their Champions League performances have raised major concerns.
The Lilywhites will do well to challenge for the knockout stages in the Champions League this season having lost to the likes of Inter Milan and Barcelona already, but their quest for a top four spot is certainly looking good.
Indeed, things haven’t all been positive for the club in the past year or so, with problems off the field halting their progress at times and really causing them trouble. Indeed, Daniel Levy hasn’t always made the best of decisions, with a couple of transfer related problems resulting in a number of issues.
With that in mind, it’s obvious that Daniel Levy has made these TWO mistakes…
FAILING TO SPEND IN THE SUMMER
Tottenham Hotspur were saving their cash while the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool all strengthened ahead of the current campaign.
And, in Europe and some Premier League fixtures this season it’s safe to say that Spurs have lacked an extra spark and have struggled for quality at times, which could have been avoided if they spent during the summer.
So, Levy simply has to take his hands out of his pockets and go big in January, with the teams around them also looking to strengthen in their quest for silverware.
FAILING TO BRING IN LLORENTE REPLACEMENT
Fernando Llorente has been one of the worst signings that the club has ever made as he continues to waste away behind the scenes in North London.
The Spaniard was used as back-up for Harry Kane last season, who spent some time out on the sidelines due to injury troubles. But, Llorente found it almost impossible to find the back of the net on a regular basis as he constantly offered nothing at the pinnacle of the attack.
However, instead of finding a replacement for the experienced forward back in January and in the summer, Spurs kept their faith in him and have certainly felt the consequences since.
