The Live Premier League Blog: Liverpool vs Manchester United

Rivalries don’t get much fiercer than Liverpool and Manchester United and we’ve got all the action from today’s game here on the FootballFanCast.com LIVE blog.

After a stuttering start to the campaign, Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool side will be hoping for their first win of the season, while Sir Alex Ferguson will do everything in his power to come away from the Anfield cauldron with all three points. This is Liverpool’s first home game since the Hillsborough report so it’s sure to be an afternoon filled with emotion both on and off the pitch.

Rodgers should welcome back Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Glen Johnson, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Joe Allen and Martin Kelly after resting his key men for their 5-3 Europa League win over Young Boys. Ferguson will be missing Ashley Young with knee cartilage trouble while Wayne Rooney is still recovering from a gashed thigh, despite reports that he could make a return earlier than expected.

Liverpool’s form has been patchy so far this season and the addition of Dutch hitman Robin van Persie to the United ranks has only served to push their title claims. However, United have failed to win in their last four Premier League visits to Anfield – losing three and drawing one – so there’s hope for a Liverpool side buoyed by 17-year-old Raheem Sterling who has impressed on first team duty.

Whatever the result, we’re in store for an afternoon of drama, goals and fantastic football played at breakneck speed – so catch all the action with FootballFanCast.com and get involved!

Well now, when it comes to football, one man has for many years been the most noticeable, the most controversial, and occasionally the most successful blogger this country has ever produced. His pithy words and abrasive style make him as famous off the pitch as he is on it. This man is Escapini. "I love football. Football she's a cruel mistress. She's, she's more than a mistress. She's a wife, she's a mother, she's a daughter, she's an errant child. She's a… she's a… she can make you laugh, she make you cry. She can bring tears me eyes. She can bring blood to me shoulders. She can bring a kettle to the boil." "Cause football is about nothing, unless it's about something and what it is about, is football."
