Liverpool fans are loving update on status of Daniel Sturridge

Daniel Sturridge is a tough player to predict. On his day, he’s unstoppable, but far too often, the Englishman lets games pass him by – often quite literally. Not only is he inconsistent, but his injury record is also a major concern, and so often times Jurgen Klopp has no choice but to not select him.

However, that doesn’t mean he’s not useful for the Reds. This season alone, he’s popped up with a few important goals, with one against Chelsea springing to mind – a strike that left surely left fans reminiscing about the past.

Is he ever going to be a regular starter for the club again? That looks unlikely, but still, if he can contribute off the bench and continue to deliver goals when called upon, it makes sense to keep him – and that’s exactly what the club apparently may want to do.

Sturridge’s contract expires at the end of the season, and so far, his future has been uncertain. However, according to the Daily Mail, the club will – at the very least – consider offering him a new contract at the club, with Jurgen Klopp said to be a big fan of his talent.

This is obviously significant news for Liverpool, and many Reds over on Twitter have been reacting to the update. Many seem to be hopeful that a new contract offer is on the horizon:

Sturridge is almost irreplaceable. There’s no way we get his quality at today’s market value. If anything Klopp might have played him more when he was in red hot form at the beginning of the season.

Sturridge is a great option from the bench, he can’t play week in week out anymore, so it’s mutually beneficial for him to stay at Liverpool where he can still have a successful career and be an option from the bench.
