Liverpool: Fans blast Divock Origi during Atalanta clash

Plenty of Liverpool fans let rip at forward Divock Origi after his performance during the Reds’ Champions League tie against Atalanta at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp’s side needed a victory to advance to the next stage of the competition with two games to spare, with the German tactician opting to rest a number of essential assets with the weekend clash with Brighton in mind (via Fotmob).

With this in mind, Liverpool are going through a major injury crisis in defence, with both Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez ruled out with long-term knee injuries, but they have plenty of assets to choose from at the other end of the field.

With the arrival of Diogo Jota from Wolves in the summer, Origi has been given the opportunity to state his claim in Klopp’s team. Despite this, the Belgium international is yet to start a game in the Premier League during the current campaign and has received intense scrutiny over the past 12 months from the Kop faithful (via Whoscored).

Liverpool lost the game 2-0 and whilst it’s fair to say that none of The Reds stars were at their best, it was Origi who came in for stick from some supporters. These fans were quick to condemn the Belgian for his showing as he showed very little attacking threat against the Italian outfit.
