Liverpool: Fans devastated as Chelsea announce Timo Werner transfer

Chelsea have announced Timo Werner will officially become a blue next month after the transfer from RB Leipzig was finally completed.

Liverpool missed out on signing the German star to their Premier League rivals earlier this month. Despite months of speculation and Werner himself admitting he sees himself as a ‘good fit’ for Jurgen Klopp’s side, talks with the Reds fell through.

Now, Chelsea will be the ones to benefit from the 24-year-old, who has tallied an astonishing 26 goals in the Bundesliga this season (via Transfermarkt).

Following the announcement, which has been relayed via Liverpool fan account @AnfieldEdition, Kopites are expressing their disappointment in the failed move. One supporter has likened him to a former Red and tweeted ‘Torres 2.0’, perhaps predicting Werner will help the Blues win silverware or maybe suggesting he is of similar ‘Judas’ nature – the Spaniard famously left Liverpool for Chelsea.

Another fan has commented that they are ‘worried about next season’, as they perhaps feel they missed out on a marquee signing.
