Lots of Liverpool fans were taken aback by the performance of midfielder Marko Grujic, despite their side’s disappointing exit from the Carabao Cup to Arsenal last night.
The Reds couldn’t break the deadlock against Mikel Arteta’s side following a series of solid saves from goalkeeper Bernd Leno in between the sticks. The game finished goalless in normal time and Liverpool then bowed out on penalty kicks.

Despite this, Grujic was the man that was on the lips of some fans after the last spot-kick, and it is easy to see why. Sofascore recorded that the tall Serbian midfielder managed to win 10 out of his 17 duels, make five tackles and accumulate a pass success rate of 88%. Grujic made his claim for potentially stepping in for Fabinho in future matches.
Having spent two years out on loan at the Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin, it looked increasingly liked that Grujic would be sold this summer for around £18.5m. But after last night’s performance, it may force Jurgen Klopp into reconsidering.

There’s such a good player in Grujic. He’s going to have a great career. He did his prospects no harm today with a super performance in midfield. We’ve probably developed too quickly for him but fingers crossed he gets a good club.
