Liverpool: Fans furious with Rhys Williams after Manchester United FA Cup exit

Some Liverpool fans were not impressed with youngster Rhys Williams after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by arch-rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

The Reds’ recent slump continued as they failed to get the upper hand against the Red Devils as they lost 3-2. Despite Mohamed Salah getting himself a brace, Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes ensured it was the hosts that advanced to the next round.

Let's see if you can name all of these Liverpool stars from over the years. To start off, who is this?

Once more, injuries forced manager Jurgen Klopp to field a makeshift defence, with Williams stepping in alongside Fabinho. However, mistakes that the 19-year-old made proved to be the difference.

Per Sofascore, Williams failed to make a single tackle during the 90 minutes, lost all three of his ground duels and did not intercept any loose balls in and around the box.

Can Rhys Williams step into Van Dijk's shoes?

Despite being on loan at National League North side Kidderminster Harriers last season, this performance was not enough for supporters who bizarrely believe that he is not up to the standards required, dismissing him almost instantaneously.

Fans let rip at Williams

“Today that showed that Rhys is League 1 level…. he deserves everything he gets… I just hope the Con-men at FSG were bothered enough to watch the game”

“Well, that was a really frustrating missed opportunity to rebuild confidence. United were there for the taking today but individual errors were fatal. I think we all know that Williams just isn’t good enough. Ali’s positioning could’ve been better for the winner. #lfc”

“Slightly better performance today. Give Mo what he wants. let’s get another striker. Rhys Williams is not good enough and will never be #Liverpool #MoSalah #rhyswilliams #LFC #VanDjik #YNWA”

“One of the worst centre-halves I’ve ever seen play for us. “But he’s 19″. When you’re trying to win a Premier League or Champions League you can’t play with players of his limited ability.”

“1. Seems no one’s allowed to run with the ball 2. Williams is a liability when played against top sides 3. We’re looking like a washed-out Barcelona back in the days 4. Never heard of a manager that’s not allowed to have a last say about transfers #LFC #YNWA”
