Share

Liverpool fans have reacted to footage of Virgil van Dijk watching back the footage of supporters singing songs before the 2018/19 Champions League final.

The Dutch captain, 28, played a fundamental role in the successes of Jurgen Klopp’s side last season after taking Manchester City right to the wire in the race for the Premier League. They ultimately lost out despite accumulating 97 points and only one defeat all season.

The Reds overcame Tottenham in the showcase finale at the Wanda Metropolitano with a 2-0 win, which secured their sixth European crown.

As a result of the above, Van Dijk won various individual awards. He won the PFA Players’ Player of the Year and the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year awards.

The video is in honour of the Reds’ defender picking up the Goal 50 award, the first defender to do so.

Supporters were in awe watching the footage and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he got “goosebumps” watching the footage.
