Liverpool: Fans gloat that Divock Origi caused Mauricio Pochettino downfall

Liverpool fans have been gloating that striker Divock Origi’s goal against Tottenham during the 2-0 triumph in the Champions League final sparked a downward spiral for former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine was sacked on Tuesday after a poor start to the season. Spurs have only won three out of their first 12 Premier League games and are six points above the relegation places going into the intense Christmas period.

The Kop faithful have joked that when the Belgian scores, it tends to initiate a negative impact on the opposition, labelled the ‘curse‘.

Origi’s winner in Madrid meant that the Reds lifted their sixth European crown at the expense of Pochettino’s side, which is said to have sent Spurs into a decline. The north London side have since appointed the former Chelsea and Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho to take the reins for the foreseeable future.

Supporters were quick to point out the impact that Origi has had and made their feelings clear on social media.
