Liverpool: Fans gush over Joe Gomez performance vs Flamengo

Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to the performance of Joe Gomez in Saturday’s Club World Cup final win, as the England international appears to be getting back to his best.

Gomez looked to be one of the brightest defensive prospects in the world when he starred alongside Virgil van Dijk for the first half of last season, shining both for the Reds and for England.

He hasn’t looked the same since returning from a leg injury that he suffered in a clash with Burnley at Turf Moor though, featuring often at full-back so far this campaign.

However, with both Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren missing through injury, the 22 year-old has been handed the opportunity to reclaim his place alongside van Dijk, and he may just have done it after Saturday’s display.

Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Flamengo 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Roberto Firmino, and Gomez has now kept four clean sheets in his last five appearances.
