Liverpool: Fans have new found respect for Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney has commented on Liverpool’s 2019/20 Premier League title situation and Reds fans have a new-found respect for the Evertonian.

The former Everton and Manchester United forward has addressed recent claims that this season’s Premier League should be voided due to the impact of recent events.

The most recent update surrounding this 2019/20 campaign has stated that the league will be completed when it is safe to do so, with an expected resumed date of June 1 (via Daily Mail).

Rooney has addressed those who were hoping for a voided season and has said that Liverpool ‘deserve’ to win the title this year. “Can you imagine waiting 30 years and then having it taken away like this? The right decision has been made,” the Derby captain wrote in the Sunday Times via the Liverpool Echo. “The fair thing is to finish 19/20 even if we have to lose next season in the process.

“Now, as you can imagine, I have Everton fans phoning me up saying: ‘The season has to be cancelled!’ And, of course, as an Evertonian and someone who played for Manchester United for 13 years, there’s a bit in me that thinks that would be good… But no.”

Liverpool fans are loving Rooney’s response and are showing respect for his sensible and professional comments. One fan has said ‘we appreciate you’ whilst another has said the 34-year-old shares ‘secret Scouse love’ with the club.
