Liverpool: Fans jokingly comment about their side from 2012

Liverpool fans have been looking back on social media at their squad from 2012, with many making comparisons to the side of 2020.

It was to be Brendan Rodgers’ first season in charge of the Reds since taking over from Kenny Dalglish, who was given his marching orders at the end of the 2011/12 season and despite winning the League Cup.

The squad only included one current player, captain Jordan Henderson played alongside Nuri Sahin and Stewart Downing in midfield.

Club icon Jamie Carragher was captaining the side that beat West Bromwich Albion in the Capital One Cup 2-1 at the Hawthorns in 2012.

Supporters were cringing at their side from eight years ago and made their feelings clear about it on Twitter. One fan said that looking at the names on the team sheet made his “shudder”.
