Liverpool: Fans rage at Naby Keita following latest setback

Many Liverpool fans have been criticised midfielder Naby Keita after he suffered yet another injury which saw him miss his side’s 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion.

Manager Jurgen Klopp before the game confirmed that the Guinea international is “a little bit injured” and that there was “nothing else to say” on the matter (cited by Anfield Watch).

Since his £48m move from RB Leipzig in 2018, Keita has scored just seven goals and provided four assists from 71 games during that timeframe (TransferMarkt).

On top of this, Keita has missed 34 games due to various fitness issues, including a brief spell out due to coronavirus, which equates to almost one entire season.

With this in mind, supporters were beginning to lose patience in the 25-year-old, with some suggesting that he should be offloaded during the January transfer window.

Fans fume at Keita

“2 and 1/2 years he’s been with us and he’s played about 50 games, for the money that was spent on him he’s been a huge let down. He has potential but he’s offering us nothing sitting in the stands, sell him and if we get £20m just take it.”
