Lots of Liverpool fans have been reacting to some intriguing news on the impending signing of Takumi Minamino, as reports claim the Reds players told Jurgen Klopp to sign the Japan international, but he already had!
Per The Athletic’s James Pearce, Minamino’s move to Liverpool is nearly complete. The Red Bull Salzburg star must pass a medical, but a £7.25m January switch is all but done.
However, plenty of fans have now been reacting to a rather interesting detail about the deal, with one report claiming the club have been scouting the Japanese ace for a quite ridiculous six years.
According to The Mirror, the Reds have been tracking Minamino since before he left Cerezo Osaka for Salzburg. This was before Klopp even arrived at the club, bringing one fan to point out that Brendan Rodgers didn’t always see eye to eye with sporting director Michael Edwards.
The report also claims that several senior players told Klopp to sign the 24 year-old after he caused them so many problems in the Champions League clashes, but didn’t know what their boss knew – it was already happening.
You can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
Michael Edwards pre dates klopps arrival. Brendan rodgers complained about Edwards, said he didn’t know what he was doing. I think we can all agree Rodgers was wrong and Klopp sticking with him paid off.
