Liverpool are being tipped to sign Leicester City midfielder James Maddison by Noel Whelan, who recently spoke to Football Insider (via Liverpool Echo).
The playmaker has been excellent for the Foxes since arriving in the summer of 2018. In his first season he managed to net seven goals and create seven assists in the Premier League, whilst he has made a flying start to this campaign too with two goal and two assists in all competitions.
Naturally his performances have caught the eye of some of the bigger clubs in England, with Manchester United thought to be admirers of the former Norwich City player.
But Whelan believes that he would be an ideal signing for Liverpool, and could be the man who finally fills the void left when Philippe Coutinho left in January 2018.
In an interview with Football Insider, the former Leeds United striker said: “James Maddison is absolutely a Liverpool type of player, I can see him joining. He can be the new Coutinho.
“He’s similar to him in many ways – great feet, can run with the ball, can see a pass that no-one else can and scores wonder goals.”

He would cost an arm and a leg. Unless he has some sort of clause in his contract were we could get him for 60-70mill.
