Loads of Liverpool fans have been reacting to some promising transfer news, as reports in Germany claim Timo Werner has chosen Anfield as his preferred destination if he leaves Red Bull Leipzig.
You’ll be hard pushed to find a player in better form anywhere in world football right now than Werner, who has scored or assisted a goal in his last nine games, per Whoscored. The 23 year-old Germany international has slammed in 25 goals in all competitions for Leipzig this campaign, adding seven assists, and now it appears he wants to move to Merseyside.
According to Bild, via Sport Witness, the Bundesliga superstar’s ‘preferred goal’ is to move to the Premier League and join Liverpool. It also states that his current contract, which runs until June 2023, has an exit clause of €60m (£51.2m) and that it will decrease every year. Goal’s Bundesliga writer, Ronan Murphy, has also added fuel to the fire, stating Liverpool would be a great step for Werner, who actually averages more top-flight key passes per game (1.7) than Roberto Firmino (1.4).
Check out some of the best Twitter reactions down below, where most fans are optimistic about a potential deal, while one suggested to sign him now but let him stay at Leipzig like with Naby Keita and another compared the pursuit to the age-old ‘sign Reus‘ joke, saying Werner will become ‘the new Marco Reus‘ due to the fact they have been linked with the striker on several occasions in the past…
Unpopular opinion: I’d rather have Werner over sancho or Havertz

He’d be perfect for us. One of those transfers that sound too good to be true though, and the fact that no one reputable ever links us with him

Klopps using his good old blackpool techniques again

If Origi and Shaqiri want to leave in summer along with AFCON moving. We and Werner himself would be stupid for it not to happen. Not everyday you get chance to join best team in world.

So we are signing Timo Werner then this summer… I’m happy with that! 🔥

I’m getting a feeling that Timo Werner is going to become the new Marco Reus for Liverpool. Always linked with a move but will never happen. #LFC #RBL
