Plenty of Liverpool fans took aim at journalist Duncan Castles after he claimed that the Reds got a couple of lucky breaks in the lead-up to Roberto Firmino’s winning goal this evening.
Castles tweeted (via @DuncanCastles) that, a few seconds before the goal, the ball last touched Sadio Mane before the Reds were awarded a throw-in. He then felt that Jordan Henderson could have been penalised for an alleged handball just before he set up Firmino for the winner. In response, The Athletic’s Liverpool reporter Simon Hughes cheekily tweeted the word ‘Parklife’ (via @Simon_Hughes__).

Despite Castles’ claims that the Premier League leaders were fortunate with the only goal of the game against Tottenham, Liverpool had 67% of possession to the home side’s 33% and had the lion’s share of first half chances (as per Sky Sports) on their way to collecting a 12th successive league win and a 20th out of 21 games in the division this season. However, they were grateful for a couple of gilt-edged late misses from Heung-Min Son and Giovani Lo Celso for Jose Mourinho’s side.
