Liverpool: Fans slam Jordan Henderson’s performance against Napoli

Liverpool fans have slammed captain Jordan Henderson after his performance during the 1-1 draw against Napoli on Wednesday.

Dejan Lovren’s second-half header cancelled out Dries Mertens’ opener for the visitors, which meant that the Reds will have to get a result away at RB Salzburg in order to progress to the next round.

Victory over Carlo Ancelotti’s men would have secured their place in the last 16 for the third season running with a game to play.

Despite receiving praise for his Champions League outing, a section of the Kop faithful took displeasure from the captain’s outing.

The frustration derived from his passing, the absence of Trent Alexander-Arnold was hard to miss and his crossing left a lot to be desired, failing to complete a cross out of seven that he attempted.

Supporters were upset with Henderson’s performance and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that he doesn’t ‘get a free pass’ just because he is the captain of the club.

Funny how everyone is mad that Henderson is getting criticised but these same people don’t bat an eyelid when other players (e.g. Salah, Keita) get unfairly blamed. Just because he’s captain he doesn’t get a free pass.
