Liverpool: Fans slam Micah Richards after stating Jordan Henderson is ‘world-class’

Liverpool fans have slammed the former Manchester City defender Micah Richards after making claims that captain Jordan Henderson is operating at a ‘world-class’ level alongside England teammate Harry Kane.

The 29-year-old remains as one of manager Jurgen Klopp’s most trusted experienced players in his setup despite critics from certain parts of the Reds’ fanbase.

After lifting the club’s sixth European crown aloft in Madrid and writing his name into eternal Anfield folklore, Richards took a shine to Henderson’s recent form and said that he is playing at a ‘world-class’ standard.

The former Manchester City, Fiorentina and Aston Villa man told BBC Radio 5 Live, “Harry Kane is world-class. In midfield, there’s no other world, world-class midfielders.

“Henderson, you’d argue Henderson’s world-class, because of what he’s done and consistency and whatnot.

“He’s won a European Cup, he’s been consistent over the last three or four years. Yeah, it really is [hard to write off a Champions League-winning captain].

“You know what, I’m going to go with that statement, I’m going to say Henderson is world-class and a lot of the work that he does goes unnoticed because he’s not getting 10 assists a season or scoring 10 goals a season.”

Supporters did not agree with the views of Richards and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described the comments as “absolutely garbage” and believes that he should be stripped of the captaincy.
