Liverpool: Fans fume at Takumi Minamino’s performance in win over FC Midtjylland

Plenty of Liverpool fans vented their frustrations at Takumi Minamino after their 2-0 victory against FC Midtjylland last night.

It was a strange European night at Anfield with no fans present inside the stadium, which may have had an impact in the Reds’ sluggish performance and the opposition putting the pressure on from the first whistle.

Despite this, Jurgen Klopp’s side prevailed with goals from Mohamed Salah from the penalty spot late on after Diogo Jota scored the club’s 10,000th competitive goal earlier in the second half.

However, a number of fans did not take kindly to watching Minamino, who signed for the club for £7.25m last January and started alongside Diogo Jota and Divock Origi after the manager made several  changes from the weekend win over Sheffield United.

During the match last night, the Japan international won just one individual duel, failed to register a shot on target and only completed 15 passes before he was brought off after 60 minutes of play (Sofasc0re).

With this in mind, some believe that his days at Anfield are numbered, having yet to make a real impression in the red shirt, throwing him into the same category as Divock Origi in terms of last night’s overall performance. Indeed, one Kopite saw fit to label Minamino as “useless”.
