Liverpool: Fans stunned by Mario Balotelli development

Many Liverpool fans were shocked to discover that former Reds’ striker Mario Balotelli is now training with an Italian semi-professional fourth division side.

The Daily Mail released pictures of the former Italy international with Franciacorta, a team who play in the Serie D Girone B league, which is located not too far from his hometown of Brescia, who released him in the summer.

Balotelli, who moved to Liverpool from AC Milan for £16m in 2014, only scored four times from 28 appearances before he was loaned back to Rossoneri, and joined OGC Nice on a free transfer the season after (TransferMarkt).

Former Reds manager Brendan Rodgers, who brought Balotelli to Anfield, recently admitted that his intention that summer was to sign Alexis Sanchez, who eventually moved to Arsenal, after Luis Suarez left Anfield, and moved for the controversial Italian instead. The Northern Irish tactician added that Balotelli didn’t fit his style and was ‘unfortunate’ (cited by TEAMTalk).
