Three years ago on Wednesday Liverpool midfield man Georginio Wijnaldum made his debut for the Reds after signing from Newcastle United for a £25m fee (BBC). Since then, the Dutchman has impressed for the Reds, and the fans have been having their say on their favourite Gini memory.

The obvious one, that a lot of fans are picking in the replies to the Liverpool tweet, is the midfield man’s brace against Barcelona in their Champions League semi-final second-leg. Wijnaldum came on at half-time at Anfield and scored twice in a 4-0 win that sent the Kopites to the final.
The former PSV Eindhoven man’s two-goals came in the space of as many minutes, and without his input, it would have been Barcelona going up against Tottenham in the Champions League final. In his Liverpool days, Wijnaldum has bagged 13 goals in 141 competitive games, Transfermarkt, but the double against Barca will always standout.

That tug o’ war over the ball with @mterstegen1 after his first goal v Barca was pretty great.

It seems from the tweet above that picking a favourite Wijnaldum moment was easy, as without his double they wouldn’t be the reigning European champions.
