Liverpool: Fans unhappy that Olivier Giroud could face Reds

A number of Liverpool supporters are wary of the threat Olivier Giroud will pose for AC Milan at Anfield, in the absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovich.

The Reds get their Champions League campaign up and running on Wednesday evening, with Milan making the trip to Merseyside.

Jurgen Klopp’s men have had a slightly disappointing last two seasons in the competition, being knocked out by Spanish pair Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid.

For that reason, the hope is surely that Liverpool can right their wrongs and go all the way in 2021/22, but they have a tricky group stage to overcome, to begin with.

On Tuesday, it was confirmed by Anfield Edition on Twitter that Ibrahimovic would miss the game through injury, which could arguably be seen as a positive.

That being said, it means Giroud will likely start in attack for Milan, with the Frenchman often thriving against Liverpool in the past, scoring seven times in 13 Premier League appearances.

Am actually disappointed Zlatan Ibrahimovic won’t be fit to face #LFC, and not just because it makes Olivier Giroud getting his customary goal even more likely. An out of this world player, Jurgen Klopp is clearly a big fan

Olivier Giroud is available for AC Milan tomorrow v Liverpool. He’s scored 8 goals in 16 appearances against us. 1 in 2 ratio. Some going that
