After being linked with RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano, Liverpool fans are now urging the club to snap up the Frenchman this summer.
According to AS, Upamecano is on Liverpool’s ‘three-man shortlist’ to replace Dejan Lovren in the upcoming transfer window.
In Leipzig’s most recent match – which was their 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League – the centre-back put in a superb shift across the backline. In the heart of his side’s back three, Upamecano completed six tackles, five clearances and wasn’t dribbled past a single time. He also won 10 duels out of 15 attempted and completed 3/3 dribbles (via Sofascore).
The French youth international is currently valued at £45million (via Transfermarkt).
Despite Joe Gomez proving a good partner for Virgil van Dijk in defence, fans would love to see Upamecano join Liverpool’s ranks. One Reds supporter has boasted that the French centre-half is ‘one of the best players’ they’ve ever watched, whilst another has branded Upamecano an ‘unreal prospect’.
