Rising star Erling Haaland has opened up about the defender he absolutely hates coming up against. To Liverpool fans’ delight, the 19-year-old said Virgil van Dijk is the centre-back he fears most.
Haaland is absolutely tearing apart the Bundesliga this season all by himself. Dortmund’s wonder-kid has scored 12 goals and provided two assists in ten appearances for the club (via Transfermarkt). The Norwegian protégé recently shattered a Champions League record that neither Cristiano Ronaldo nor Lionel Messi could reach.
Following his brace against Paris Saint Germain, the 19-year-old reached double figures four games faster than any other player in UCL history. He almost marked his name in history as the first teenager to do so in a single season, something the greats haven’t managed and neither has fellow young wonder Kylian Mbappe (via BBC Sport).
Haaland is now rated an impressive £54million (Transfermarkt) with that figure only looking to increase. In a recent interview with France Football, Haaland revealed that van Dijk is the defender he hates coming across. “He is powerful, quick, he possesses all the qualities. He is an incredible player,” said the striker.
Liverpool fans are loving the youngster’s response, with many using the logic that if he joins the Reds, he won’t have to face van Dijk. One fan has called for Michael Edwards to ‘get to work’ and sign Haaland.
Join LFC and you’ll never come across him 🤪

What do you make of Haaland’s comments, Reds? Would you take him at Liverpool?
