As the game stood at 2-2 and with the match in the balance in stoppage time, Thiago played an outrageous no-look pass to Sadio Mane who found Henderson unmarked in the penalty area and he scored what looked like the winning goal for the visitors at Goodison Park.
Unbelievably, VAR ruled that Mane was offside before the ball was played but he did not appear to be beyond Everton’s last man, with the goal subsequently disallowed and the game finishing 2-2.
In the first half, Toffees goalkeeper Jordan Pickford got away with an aggressive tackle on Virgil van Dijk which saw the Dutchman leave the field through injury.
Was Jordan Henderson offside?
After many supporters were already incensed by earlier incidents in the game, the offside call turned out to be the straw that broke the camel’s back, with these Liverpool fans fuming over the decision to rule out Henderson’s stoppage time goal.
Fans shocked by VAR call to disallow Jordan Henderson’s winner
Absolutely embarassing from VAR! It was offside. Who draws these lines! Ridiculous how it ruins football! #VAR
