A number of Liverpool supporters have been raging after it was confirmed that Paul Tierney would be in charge of VAR in the Reds' match against Chelsea next month.

The Merseysiders drew 2-2 away to Tottenham in a thrilling Premier League clash on Sunday, a game which ebbed and flowed throughout.

Unfortunately, there was a feeling that Jurgen Klopp's men were robbed by bad decisions from Tierney, with Harry Kane somehow avoiding a red card for a lunge on Andrew Robertson (who was later sent off) and Diogo Jota being blatantly fouled inside the penalty area.

Klopp made his feelings known at the final whistle, with the Liverpool manager claiming that the 40-year-old is the only referee with whom he has problems.

It has now been confirmed [via Spion Kop on Twitter] that Tierney will be on VAR duty for the trip to Chelsea on January 2, which is unlikely to go down well with Kopites after Sunday's controversies.
