The 28-year-old goalkeeper has been sidelined due to a shoulder injury that he picked up in training, resulting in the Reds’ second-choice stopper Adrian stepping in for duties.
In the Brazilian’s absence, the 33-year-old has conceded nine goals from two Premier League games (Whoscored), including seven during the Reds’ drubbing at the hands of Aston Villa earlier this month. Beforehand, Liverpool had a 100% record in the league and made a perfect start to their title defence, but the injury to Virgil van Dijk may have thrown that into doubt.
Should Adrian be given more time with the Liverpool first team?
Unsurprisingly, many supporters were excited at the thought of Alisson returning to the team, with the Reds in urgent need of some experienced faces at the back to cope with their extensive injury list.
