Liverpool fans were far from happy with a tweet from James Pearce, who criticised the performance of Naby Keita during the Reds’ 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid.
The Reds were in action at the Wanda Metropolitano in the Champions League against Los Rojiblancos, and they picked up an important three points thanks to a brace from Mohamed Salah and a Naby Keita strike. However, the latter’s display came in for plenty of criticism.
Pearce is a Reds reporter who works for The Athletic, and he covered the match against Atletico from the Spanish capital.
The journalist was particularly disappointed with the display of the former RB Leipzig midfielder, something which stirred the Anfield outfit’s supporters – they believed others should have perhaps been questioned instead, in particular Jordan Henderson.
Do you agree with Pearce?
Pearce shared his thoughts on Twitter, and his post attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters. They took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the matter.
Let’s see what the fans had to say about the thoughts of Pearce below
“This is so sad. So unnecessary.”
“Lost for words nothing about Henderson shameless”
“Naby defended the goals poorly, but so did others. Even Virg got in a mess. The comments on these articles will inevitably begin trading insults of LFC players against each other. That just seems ridiculous amongst a group of LFC supporters. We won, they all played a part.”
“This is becoming a joke now. The midfield was bypassed just as easy in the second half after Keita went off. I know it’s hard for you to criticise our golden boy Henderson but try watching the game back and count how many times Atletico players strolled past him.”
“Embarrassing article. We win, yet you’re here calling out Naby… again. Klopp even said himself it wasn’t Keita’s problem we conceded.”
“What a shock you jump on the Naby bashing parade while saying nothing about Milner and Henderson who were just bad but I don’t see them scoring you sad man”
