Major Liverpool transfer target Thiago Alcantara has named Liverpool as his club of choice ahead of next season.
According to SportBild’s Christian Falk (relayed via @LFCTransferRoom), the Bayern Munich midfielder ‘is sure he has a club to go to’ and believes it is Liverpool. The Reds have been heavily linked with the 29-year-old as they look to bolster their squad and protect their first ever Premier League title.
Should Curtis Jones be made a first team regular for Liverpool?
Falk reports that the transfer will come down to whether the Merseyside outfit will be able to meet the asking price Bayern set for Thiago’s services. An earlier report by SportBild claimed the Bundesliga champions want close to €40million (£36m) for the Spaniard, but Liverpool are tabling an offer of €20m (£18m).
Kopites are pleading with the club to make the move happen, with one supporter asking owners FSG to ‘stump up’ whilst another has said Thiago is ‘on his knees for Liverpool’. Indeed it is easy to understand why fans would be keen to sign the Spaniard, given the amount of titles he has won at two top clubs in his career in Bayern and Barcelona.
