Haaland to Liverpool?
The 20-year-old has been a sensation for the Bundesliga outfit since making his £17.1m move from RB Salzburg last January.
Haaland has gone on to score an impressive 24 goals from just 27 appearances, which led to him being described as “greedy” by Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick, suggesting that it was too early to suggest whether he will be better than Robert Lewandowski (cited by NewsLetter).
But speaking to Sky90 (via Welt), Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund admitted it was hard to stomach Haaland’s departure and believes that he will eventually end up under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp.
“Erling really bit us,” he said. “The talks with Dortmund were short. They told they had come to an agreement. we didn’t have that much influence on it, but it worked out correctly. Many clubs were interested and got in touch. In the end, it was a decision made by the player.”
When asked on whether he would join Liverpool, he simply stated: “He will land there.
“He can play for any club in the world. With his mentality, his will and self-confidence, he will be able to make a mark on European football in the next ten years”.
Transfer Tavern take
If Haaland made the move to Anfield, it would be enough to cause the sort of footballing earthquake that Paris Saint-Germain caused when Neymar made his move from Barcelona back in 2017 (via BBC Sport).
The 6 foot 2 powerhouse is regarded as one of the best centre-forwards in the world after taking the Bundesliga by storm almost instantly.
If Klopp wants his man, then it’s expected that he will have to pay an eye-watering sum for his services, given his age and goal record.
