Liverpool and Manchester United are both reportedly interested in signing Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic this summer.

Jurgen Klopp has had to make do without Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez since the autumn, while Joel Matip has also joined the duo in being out for the remainder of the campaign.
While Liverpool have actually defended solidly of late, with Ozan Kabak and Nathaniel Phillips impressing, a new addition is expected in the summer transfer window.

The Serb’s current Fiorentina deal expires at the end of next season, with the Serie A side risking losing the defender on a free transfer in 2022, if he doesn’t leave this year. They are believed to value him at €35million (£30m).

Milenkovic is an extremely exciting centre-back who has been hailed as a ‘new (Nemanja) Vidic’ by former Serbia manager Mladen Krstajic – he could tick all the boxes when it comes to Liverpool bringing in a new central defender.
The 23-year-old has started 25 of Fiorentina’s Serie A games this season, outlining his status as a key man at a young age, chipping in with three goals and averaging 1.4 tackles and 1.3 interceptions per game.
His massive physical frame means he’d likely have no issue adjusting to the physicality of the Premier League,
