According to Corriere del Mezzogiorno (via TEAMtalk), Liverpool have made a €75m (£67.2m) bid to sign Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Reds have been linked with the Napoli defender for the past few weeks, and they are now said to have made their first move for the centre-back.
The bid is believed to be €75m (£67.2m), with Klopp believing he would be a dream partner for Virgil van Dijk at the heart of his defence.
The speculation linking Koulibaly with a switch to Anfield refuses to go away, and you can certainly understand why the Reds would be interested in signing him. The Senegal international has averaged a WhoScored rating of over seven for each full season he has spent with the Serie A outfit, for example.
However, in the current market and with a pandemic continuing to wreak havoc across the planet, spending such a fee on one player is surely too much, especially when the Reds have Joe Gomez already to rely on. In the last 12 matches before the season was suspended, Gomez and van Dijk kept nine clean sheets in the Premier League.
Would you like to sign Koulibaly?
Koulibaly is a fantastic player, but at 28 years old he is hardly a signing for the future. In the short-term, van Dijk and the Napoli man would likely be a wonderful pairing, but it is hardly a duo that could stick around for years and years to come.
