Jurgen Klopp has admitted Liverpool will not splash the cash in the summer.
Although the Reds are newly-crowned Premier League champions, they are not expected to spend heavily in the transfer market.
According to James Pearce, Klopp has made it clear the club will have to be “creative” as they look to add new signings before the start of next season.
However, the manager wants to bring Bayern Munich star Thiago Alcantara to Anfield, as reported by France Football, via @LFCTransferRoom.
Thiago will be available for a cut-price fee if he doesn’t extend his contract as Bayern will accept an offer for roughly £27m.
This isn’t the first time the Reds have been linked to Thiago, as Klopp has previously revealed he is a keen admirer of the Spaniard. After signing Naby Keita, he insisted the two midfielders were the best players in the Bundesliga (The Daily Express).
He has received a higher WhoScored rating than Georginio Wijnaldum for his performances this season.
Nevertheless, Fenway Sports Group were reluctant to spend nearly £100m in terms of transfer fees and wages on Chelsea-bound striker Timo Werner, and they may be put off by his wages, which are reportedly worth £207,000-a-week. His injury history makes for further grim reading.
Who should Liverpool sign?
Thiago Alcantara
Philippe Coutinho
As expected, lots of LFC fans reacted to Klopp’s verdict on social media, with some tweeting he is “top class” and “better than Gini,” while another added he could be a “bargain” if Liverpool sign him in the summer.
Have a read through the mixed reactions so far…
About 30M for a class midfielder seems like a bargain

One of the best playmakers in the world? He’s struggling to get games at Munich. Much better and younger players available.

He’s 29 not a fsg signing

I wish it were true. Unfortunately, it’s not. Klopp will make a decision to either get a body in to replace Lallana or rely on youth players making the step up. He hasn’t decided yet.
