Roberto Firmino’s wait for a first goal at Anfield this season will continue beyond Christmas after the Brazilian drew another blank today.
All four of his goals this season have come in away fixtures and the Liverpool forward endured a frustrating afternoon in his team’s 2-0 victory over Watford.
Although he managed two shots on target against the Hornets, Firmino was frequently guilty of being sloppy in possession with a moderate passing success rate of 73%, with just 25 of his 34 passes finding a team-mate, while only two of his five dribbles were successful. [via Sofascore]
Having begun the season with three goals in his first six Premier League games, the 27-year-old has now managed just one in his last 11 league appearances, and one in his last 16 matches in all competitions. [via TransferMarkt]
Firmino was substituted in the closing stages of the Reds’ win over Watford, coming off in the 88th minute for Divock Origi (as per Sky Sports).
However, these Liverpool fans on Twitter were calling for the Brazilian to have been substituted much earlier:
I’d consider Origi for Firmino as well, I think Origi would trouble the Watford back line far more
