Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are full of high hopes after The Express revealed that Brendan Rodgers is planning a £50 million bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
Rodgers has endured a tough season so far and his Reds side have struggled for goals with his strikers misfiring and he has also been without his main man Daniel Sturridge who has been out since August 31st.
Also his gamble on Mario Balotelli has not paid off at all with the striker’s performances coming under heavy scrutiny and he has also been caught up in off the field problems.
Rickie Lambert and Fabio Borini have also found it tough to step up in Sturridge’s absence.
The three available strikers mentioned above have only managed to score one Premier League goal between them.
This has made it very difficult for Rodgers and he hopes to address this problem with a £50 million bid for Benzema.
The Frenchman is consistently linked with a move to the Premier League but usually he is rumoured to join Arsenal.
But according to Spanish journalist Manuel Esteban, it is only a matter of time before he leaves the Bernabeu.
He said: “Benzema is on thin ice. If they receive a big bid, they will not be hesitant.”
“The dream is to combine Kun Aguero, Marco Reus and Cristiano Ronaldo, who would become the best front line in the world of football.”
So it appears that Carlo Ancelotti may consider selling Benzema at a high price if it helps raise the funds to sign Marco Reus and Sergio Aguero.
