Our Liverpool fans here in Transfer Tavern will be hoping that Jurgen Klopp can use his inside knowledge on the German Bundesliga in order to sniff out some hidden gems in the summer.

The German boss would be right in thinking of going back to the Bundesliga this summer, in order to further strengthen his side for the next campaign, where they’ll hopefully catch Manchester City. Indeed, he should be bidding to bring a trophy to Liverpool under his reign, to surely be regarded as anything but a flop by our local Liverpudlians, despite his current popularity.

The regulars in the pub believe that the focus should be on the defence and goalkeeping situations this time around in the window, as the midfield is jam-packed with talent to choose from and the frontline sorts itself out.

Indeed, to get one over on the rest of the Premier League will be tough, but our landlord would like to point out these three players to Klopp for him to bring some real talent to Anfield…

The Wolfsburg ever-present goalkeeper is still only 25 years old, and still has many years left in football. Klopp needs a permanent No.1 between the sticks, and a move for the Belgian would be a smart move.

Casteels is a shot-stopper alongside having great concentration levels which are needed in the Premier League. His preferred way of punching out may be a factor, as we’ve seen with many ‘keepers in the past, though surely anything is an upgrade to what Klopp currently has.

Philipp Max

The left-back has been a phenomenon this season for Augsburg, in both an attacking and defensive sense. His 10 assists in 23 League games is something that any coach would want to add to his squad, especially from a left-back. Although he’s not the greatest passer of the ball, he has a keen eye for a cross and his free-kick skills would rival most players.

Max is still only 24 and would suit Klopp’s attack-minded style of play. He can play on the left wing also but would probably be best suited to a wing back position.

Salif Sane

Salif Sane has been one of the best performers in the Bundesliga so far this season and, is highly regarded by his club Hannover 96. The Senegalese centre-back is very strong in the air and standing at 6’4, he and Virgil Van Dijk would control the box at both ends of the pitch.

He’s a smart player and doesn’t feel the need to dive into tackles, although he will clear his lines when needed too.
