Liverpool fans in the Football Transfer Tavern know they are in for a rough ride after talkSPORT explained how their target, Ignacio Camacho, from Malaga revealed that Napoli came in for him in January.
Malaga’s defensive midfielder has been in sublime form for the La Liga side and it is no shock he is wanted by elite clubs around Europe as he has recently been called up to Spain’s national team.
The 24-year-old, formerly of Atletico Madrid, is about to enter the peak of his career, meaning it would be the perfect time for any top club to snap him up.
But thankfully for Brendan Rodgers, Rafa Benitez failed in his attempts to bring him to Napoli, after his bid failed in January.
“There was an offer from Napoli but the club decided it was not the right time to sell me,” Camacho said.
“I agreed with that and I’ve always said that if I do leave then I won’t do it by the back door. The club has given me a lot and vice versa, and there is a mutual respect. If I had to go then it would all be made very easy.”
