The Transfer Tavern atmosphere is being dominated by howling laughter from Liverpool fans, mocking their Arsenal counterparts as the north London club look set to miss out on exciting transfer target Ben Chilwell.
The 20-year-old’s first team exposure at the King Power Stadium has been limited thus far, managing just twelve senior appearances for Leicester City since making his debut in January last year following a productive loan spell at Huddersfield.
But he’s widely regarded as one of English football’s most promising young players and is attracting interest from some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs, with Arsenal and Liverpool both keen according to recent reports from The Express.
But in an exclusive, The Express have claimed any interest from the Gunners is now in doubt with Arsene Wenger due to leave the Emirates Stadium when his contract expires at the end of the campaign following a string of worrying Arsenal results.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp appears keen to capitalise on the situation by launching a £10million bid for the prodigious full-back, who signed a contract extension until 2021 in the East Midlands last summer.
How much Leicester value Chilwell at remains to be seen, but suffering relegation from the Premier League this season will surely push them towards cashing in on the youngster.
