Liverpool have been offered defender Winston Reid by West Ham United in light of the club’s recent centre-back crisis, according to reports.
Reid to Anfield?
The Daily Star revealed that the 32-year-old is ‘readily available’ for the Reds and would provide the reinforcements that manager Jurgen Klopp is wanting before Monday’s 11 pm deadline.
Before Liverpool took on the Hammers on Sunday, they had no established centre-backs to choose from.
With the likes of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez already spending lengthy periods in the treatment room, Fabinho and Joel Matip soon joined them after picking up knocks either before, or during their 3-1 win over Tottenham on Thursday.

Reid would certainly bring backup in that department. However, he recently returned from a rather unsuccessful loan spell at Major League Soccer side Sporting Kansas City.
The New Zealand international has been at West Ham for 10 years and has scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists from 223 appearances in all competitions, so he would be bringing plenty of experience to the table (TransferMarkt).
Transfer Tavern Verdict
While this may seem like a great idea on paper, Liverpool could potentially be back to square one if Reid made the move to the North West from East London.
Over the years, the veteran 6 foot 2 centre-back has suffered from a string of injuries, including one to his knee that saw him miss 53 games and sit on the sidelines for over a year.
Similar to Matip, all it takes is for Reid to take a knock and then that would be that. Liverpool need a player that they can rely on to be available for the rest of the season.
