Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are excited after Manchester Evening News revealed that Manuel Pellegrini is planning a summer swoop for Burnley striker Danny Ings who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Many reports have recently suggested that the 22-year-old has his heart set on a move to Liverpool at the end of the season but the Citizens are hoping they can change his mind in the latter stages of this 2014/15 campaign.

Ings has been a breath of fresh air in the Premier League, standing out in an unfancied Burnley side where he has gone on to score seven goals in 22 appearances.

These performances have led to several clubs keeping tabs on the Englishman as his contract expires at the end of the season with Ings having made it clear that he will not sign an extension at Turf Moor.

Burnley stuck to their word as they remained adamant that Ings would remain a Claret following the conclusion of the January transfer window and his short-term goal will be to help Sean Dyche’s side avoid relegation from the Premier League.
