Local star explains Sunderland pain

As quoted by The Telegraph, Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has explained how the Black Cats’ poor run of form is hurting him more than most, as he is from the local area.

The young stopper broke through towards the end of last season and has been a mainstay this year under David Moyes, but has not been able to help the side to a victory so far in the Premier League.

Our resident Black Cats here in the Transfer Tavern fans really like him as a goalkeeper and worry if they don’t stay up this season, they could lose him, with them currently well adrift of the rest of the pack in the table.

For Pickford, it’s about as bad as it gets, Pickford said to the Telegraph: “I’m a massive Sunderland fan so it probably hurts me as much as anyone. There is nothing more I want than Sunderland to win games. I hate losing, anyone who knows me will tell you that, I hate it, I hate letting goals in, so it has been hard because we keep losing and I keep conceding goals.”

Sunderland lost again at the weekend via a 4-1 scoreline against Arsenal as Olivier Giroud came on to score two and now the men from the north east must travel to Bournemouth, in a bid for their first victory of the season this weekend.

Our landlord thinks the Mackems are well and truly doomed, and can’t envisage seeing Sunderland being in the Premier League come the 2017/18 season.
