Lukaku to Arsenal: 2 major reasons why Arsene Wenger needs to make this happen

Arsenal’s Champions League dreams were demolished by Bayern Munich last week and Gunners fans here in the Tavern are still trying to come to terms with the early exit!

It’s done nothing to help the cause of manager Arsene Wenger, who, despite years in the hotseat, is under serious pressure to deliver results as the season draws to a close.

One saving grace for the Gunners chief is that his side still live on in the FA Cup, after easing to victory over plucky Lincoln.

It was a game Arsenal fans all over the world feared losing but the team pulled through and attention turns back to league and cup affairs over the coming weeks.

Or it would have done, if not for the news that Romelu Lukaku won’t be signing a new deal at Everton in the coming weeks.

It’s a decision that has sent shockwaves around the footballing world and Arsenal fans in the Tavern want Wenger to bring him to the Emirates.

So with that in mind, here’s TWO reasons why Wenger needs to bring the Belgian to London…

Wenger needs a player to save his job

As simple as it might sound, bringing in a top-class player at the end of the season (if he survives that long) might be one thing to keep Arsenal fans off Wenger’s back, for the time being.

And they don’t come much bigger than Romelu Lukaku, who has quickly proved himself to be one of the divisions finest scorers, having carried Everton for a good couple of seasons now.

He might prove the difference between Wenger staying or going. Gunners fans here in the pub are sick to death of below-average signings.

They want real stars.

Arsenal might need to replace unhappy Alexis

Granted, Arsenal have the likes of Olivier Giroud, Lucas Perez in the striking ranks but these days, those names don’t scream star quality.

Of course, Alexis Sanchez very much remains the key man in this Gunners XI but with rumours suggesting his unhappy in London, could Lukaku’s potential signing be a like-for-like replacement?

They’re two entirely different players with hugely different playing styles but Gunners fans in the pub seem to think he’d be up to the job.
