Major blow causing Manuel Pellegrini to juggle West Ham transfer funds already

The West Ham United fans here in the Transfer Tavern really aren’t too sure about to what think during this summer window. Indeed, while our punters clad in claret and blue have been delighted to see Manuel Pellegrini appointed as the club’s new boss, the fact that their board remain in charge always proves to be a worry.

With that in mind, comments within an extensive report from Football.London have proven rather annoying. According to them, Pellegrini is already having to shift money around in his transfer budget after Manuel Lanzini’s dreadful injury wrecked some of his summer plans.

The Chilean has reportedly been given £75m to splash this summer and is thought to have wanted to bring both Alfie Mawson and Barcelona’s Marlon Santos in to strengthen his defence ahead of the new campaign. However, with Lanzini now likely to miss a huge chunk of action, the former Manchester City chief will have to devote a fairly sizeable slice of that to replace the Argentine.

It’s never easy at West Ham, is it?

Landlord’s Verdict:

It’s a major blow for West Ham on the transfer front in terms of having their plans wrecked and, for once, it’s not the fault of the owners. Still, this is where Pellegrini must earn his money. He needs to find his solution – perhaps promoting someone from the academy – if he’s to juggle funds.
