Man City and Arsenal target to sign £17m deal elsewhere

Pep GuardiolaManchester City and Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are in a gloomy mood this afternoon after hearing that one of their prime targets will snub a move to the Premier League.

The Mirror states Bayern Munich will offer Pep Guardiola a new contract worth £17m, that will lead the Catalan manager to remain in Germany and snub a lucrative move to England.

Guardiola’s future has been shrouded in debate, with his current deal set to expire in 2016, but this revised deal will see the former Barcelona boss tied-down with the Bavarian giants until 2018.

However, there’s hope for Manchester United and Arsenal as a year-long extension would put them in prime position for his services in the summer of 2017; where both Louis Van Gaal and Arsene Wenger may retire.

Manchester City may also be prepared to wait but it’s crushing news for Chelsea, who wanted an appointment as soon as possible to replace the under-performing Jose Mourinho.
