Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern are shying away from the recent transfer speculation, after it was revealed Manchester United and Liverpool are chasing one of their star-men.
The Chronicle states Newcastle forward Ayoze Perez is a target for both Premier League giants, with the Magpies facing a battle to keep hold of their key assets come the January transfer window.
With Newcastle struggling near the foot of the Premier League table, they face an important month as Steve McClaren desperately needs to keep his squad intact- but that could prove difficult with vultures swooping.
Both United and Liverpool are heavily linked with a swoop for a forward in January and 22-year-old Spaniard Perez could be the ideal recruit, due to his experience of English football and the fact he has the potential to grow into a fine player in the future.
Whilst Mike Ashley will be unlikely to turn down a lucrative offer in the New Year, the worries will be that Newcastle will failure to replace him and will subsequently slip into the Championship come May.
