Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are passing the time as they await tonight’s crucial Manchester derby by discussing an intriguing transfer report they’ve read this morning.
Red Devils supporters will have become accustomed to speculation that David De Gea will leave Old Trafford and join Real Madrid but it seems there is some legs in the story this summer, as Jose Mourinho’s side line-up a potential replacement.
The Manchester Evening News states the representatives of Atletico Madrid stopper Jan Oblak flew to Manchester this week to discuss the possibility of a major move this summer to join Manchester United.
24-year-old Oblak has developed an exceptional reputation on the continent with his performances for Atletico, helping the Madrid outfit reach the Champions League semi-finals; where they’ll face a derby against Real Madrid.
Oblak’s signature will certainly not come cheap but Jose Mourinho should have plenty of cash to fund a move this summer, with our landlord stating he feels the majority of a fee will be provided by a sale of De Gea.
Would replacing De Gea with Oblak be a good move? Let us know in the comments below!
