Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern admire their bosses’ persistence after The Express revealed that they have lodged a bid to sign Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels despite the fact the German side have insisted he’s not for sale.
The Red Devils are hoping their early bid will blow Arsenal out of the water as they seek defensive reinforcements.
Louis van Gaal is ignoring the fact that Dortmund have no intention of selling their prized centre back who is valued at anywhere between £30 million and £50 million and at this stage, it is unknown what fee United have tempted the Bundesliga side with.
But van Gaal is in with a chance of signing the German international considering that the Bundesliga side have struggled and they have been surprisingly hovering in and around the relegation zone all season.
Hummels is supposedly frustrated with his team-mates’ poor performances this term and with Jurgen Klopp’s side likely to miss out on Champions League football next season, he may feel a move away from Dortmund is the only option.
