The punters at the bar have become fed up in recent years with consistent speculation that David De Gea will leave Old Trafford and move to Real Madrid, as rumours concerning a huge summer switch mount up yet again.
However, there appears to be legs in the rumours this summer and Manchester United could land a top-target of their own as part of a deal, with Spanish outlet Don Balon stating Real Madrid are ready to use James Rodriguez as make-weight in a summer transfer.
Colombian ace Rodriguez has struggled to establish himself at the Santiago Bernabeu since moving to the Spanish capital after his starring performances at the 2014 World Cup and is poised to leave the La Liga giants this summer, with Jose Mourinho’s side amongst those eyeing a deal.
With Real Madrid looking to offload the South American, it plays into the hands of Zinedine Zidane’s side as they could use United’s interest in James to lower the price they’ll have to pay for top-target David De Gea.
